For parent accounts we collect your email address, first and last name, country, native language, and how you heard about us (optional).
For child profiles, added by the parent, we collect: name, avatar, date of birth, gender, native language, and reading level. We also store reading progress (which stories have been read and how far) linked to each child profile.
Your data is used solely to provide the BedTimeforKids service — authenticating your account, filtering stories by age range, and saving your children's reading progress. We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
BedTimeforKids is designed for use by parents on behalf of their children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. All child profiles are created and managed by the registered parent or guardian, who provides explicit consent at registration.
US users (COPPA): We do not collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. The parent account is the consent mechanism — by creating a child profile you confirm you are that child's parent or legal guardian.
EU/UK users (GDPR Art. 8): For users in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, the registered parent or guardian provides consent for processing the child's data. Children's data is processed only to provide the reading service and is not used for profiling or advertising.
Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Child profile data and reading progress are deleted immediately when a child profile is removed. All data associated with your account is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS). Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). Story assets (images, audio) are served from a public CDN.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. EU/UK users additionally have the right to data portability and the right to object to processing. Upon account deletion, all child profiles and reading progress will be permanently removed within 30 days.
